Courses for 2010

These are the dates of known badge courses being run. This list will be updated as dates are added and removed.

 

Explorer : Canoeing - 9 Wednesday nights from 28th April. May also involve a day at a weekend and possibily Wednesday 30th June as well.

 

Scout Canoeist Badge Saturday 28th/Sunday 29th August (2 days).

 

Longcraig can also offer courses on demand - subject to the centres' safety boat requirements and a minimum number of 3 people wishing to participate. Maximum numbers for courses will usually be 12 (except powerboating which is 6).

Longcraig is a recognised RYA training centre and is inspected annually by the RYA and is also an affiliated member with the Scottish Canoe Association (Scottish Association of the BCU).

Please note that a new BCU award system went live in September 2007 and this has made the delivery of BCU 2 and 3 star courses more intense than before.

From 2010 we will be delivering courses aimed at getting Scouts and Explorers qualified to gain proficiency badges. We are happy to discuss custom courses for groups, subject to a minimum number of 3 people and availability of staff.

Adults (or those 14 and over) who wish to train towards BCU 2 and 3 star are also requested to note interest and we will advise them when a suitable course will be run.
